1. Life means suffering.
To live means to suffer, because the human nature is not perfect and neither is the world we live in. During our lifetime, we inevitably have to endure physical suffering such as pain, sickness, injury, tiredness, old age, and eventually death; and we have to endure psychological suffering like sadness, fear, frustration, disappointment, and depression. Although there are different degrees of suffering and there are also positive experiences in life that we perceive as the opposite of suffering, such as ease, comfort and happiness, life in its totality is imperfect and incomplete, because our world is subject to impermanence. This means we are never able to keep permanently what we strive for, and just as happy moments pass by, we ourselves and our loved ones will pass away one day, too.

2. The origin of suffering is attachment.
The origin of suffering is attachment to transient things and the ignorance thereof. Transient things do not only include the physical objects that surround us, but also ideas, and -in a greater sense- all objects of our perception. Ignorance is the lack of understanding of how our mind is attached to impermanent things. The reasons for suffering are desire, passion, ardour, pursuit of wealth and prestige, striving for fame and popularity, or in short: craving and clinging. Because the objects of our attachment are transient, their loss is inevitable, thus suffering will necessarily follow. Objects of attachment also include the idea of a "self" which is a delusion, because there is no abiding self. What we call "self" is just an imagined entity, and we are merely a part of the ceaseless becoming of the universe.

3. The cessation of suffering is attainable.
The cessation of suffering can be attained through nirodha. Nirodha means the unmaking of sensual craving and conceptual attachment. The third noble truth expresses the idea that suffering can be ended by attaining dispassion. Nirodha extinguishes all forms of clinging and attachment. This means that suffering can be overcome through human activity, simply by removing the cause of suffering. Attaining and perfecting dispassion is a process of many levels that ultimately results in the state of Nirvana. Nirvana means freedom from all worries, troubles, complexes, fabrications and ideas. Nirvana is not comprehensible for those who have not attained it.

4. The path to the cessation of suffering.
There is a path to the end of suffering - a gradual path of self-improvement, which is described more detailed in the Eightfold Path. It is the middle way between the two extremes of excessive self-indulgence (hedonism) and excessive self-mortification (asceticism); and it leads to the end of the cycle of rebirth. The latter quality discerns it from other paths which are merely "wandering on the wheel of becoming", because these do not have a final object. The path to the end of suffering can extend over many lifetimes, throughout which every individual rebirth is subject to karmic conditioning. Craving, ignorance, delusions, and its effects will disappear gradually, as progress is made on the path.

This year, 2008, Thadingyut Full Moon Day falls on the 14th October(Tomorrow).

Thadingyut Festival marks the descend of Lord Buddha and his disciples from celestial abode, where they spent the Lent and Lord Buddha preached Abhidhamma (part of the Buddhist Cannon) to his mother who was reborn there to thank her back for giving birth to him. When he descended back down to earth, celestial beings created a stairways of stars back down to earth. Thus, it has become a tradition and a festival to mark that event by lighting candles at homes all over the country to celebrate the descend of Lord Buddha back to earth.

Thadingyut is also the time to pay respect to elders and those whom we own gratitude. We ask for their forgiveness if we had committed any sins and they'll forgive us.

So let start pay our respect and ask forgiveness from elders and let's hope they forgive us and give much pocket money ;-P

Kwon Sang-woo and Son Yae-Yeong's wedding ceremory was held at Shilla Hotel in Seoul at 5.pm on yesterday, 28 September 2008. After the trip of photoshoot for W Magazine at London they celebrated their wedding.
Kwon and Son were happy as can be. The guests celebrated their wedding with great enthusiasm.
The newly web husband went around shaking hands and thanking them for being at their special day.
He said that he was so greateful and cannot forget this day.
The couple had a photo time in front of press before the wedding ceremony.
The wedding was beautiful and a lot of Korea's hottest celebrities were in attendance.
This was outside ceremony, the weather was perfect.

I was so surprised and glad to find Skateline School putting their easy-to-learn blading tutorials on a YouTube channel. This is really useful for a beginner, e.g. noobies like me! I really enjoyed myself when I was enrolled for the basic level 1 and 2 classes last year, my best buddy there being a young Korean kid (aka 김성진 no.2.. lol). Now I can actually use the clips to review what I have learned so far before moving on to level 3 (kind of rusty now.. Marcus, Aaron, Daniel, pls get me out for blading!!!!). You can go direct to the channel itself, or browse through the nifty moves that I have organized based on Skateline's own "Learn-To-Skate Program" booklet format:

Learn-To-Skate Program (ICP Standard)
Level 1:

Stride 1
Heel Stop (I bought a pair of blades without heel brakes, hence I shunned using heel brakes to stop initially. Never did I know that it is in fact very important, especially for slopes, after going through the lessons. This is also my main reason for failing my first ever evaluation..ㅠㅠ ! Learn well.)
A-Frame Turn (The very first basic turn to learn and you can then turn everywhere!)
Scooter (Important to familiarize placing your weight on one foot.)
Swizzle (Looks easy but watch your balance.. it is easy to fall backwards doing this! Bend your knees for better thrust and balance.)

Level 2:

Stride 2
1-Foot Balance (Another very important aspect to master.)
Toe Roll (Fun to try, luckily not tested during evaluation.. lol)
Heel Stop 2
Scooter Turn
Parallel Turn (I like this turn, it is so smooth. Maybe the hip is the trick.)
Simple Slalom (my instructor told me ppl can fail this 8 times in a row.. his stern advice: no body rotation!)

Level 3:

Stride 3 (My first lesson in level 3? Speed skating? *ahh* looks difficult!)
Spin Stop
Forward Cross-over (Nice move.. always wanting to learn this.)
T-Stop (*hehe* I had secretly started training on this using the sloping overhead bridge at East Coast.. many horrifying experiences to share though! Maybe I should wait until proper lessons start...)

Level 4:

Lunge Turn (Marcus seems to know this instinctively!)
Lunge Stop
1-Foot Slalom
Heel-Stop 3
Forward Power-slide
Backward Cross-over

Level 6:

Anyway, nothing beats having someone qualified to guide you along, and through my experience with Skateline's group of dedicated instructors, I find them to be pleasant and *overly* enthusiastic to impact knowledge, not forgetting the feel-good environment for all beginners during classes. The fun thing about inline skating is that there are so many interesting moves that I can gradually pick up as my skill improves (but I just can't do Aaron's Eagle move *sianz*) , as opposed to my first impression then as a leisure activity plus *lazy* way to exercise from one end of East Coast to another. I'm thinking of going for level 3 class this Saturday, anyone joining me? =p

My friend is looking for a job right now.A company sent him email and he is being asked what is your expected CTC ? He asked me what is CTC ? I have no idea . So , i need my best friend (Google) help.

Cost to Company (CTC) is a term used to describe an investment without return. Travel expenditures, interviewing, spending time with potential customers can all be interpreted as CTC's.

Cost to Company can also be used to refer to the total cost that an organization is spending towards their employee including the Salary, Perks, Cost related to benefits, Cost related to hiring, Training, Retirals, Statutory Contributions etc.

Cost to Company is a buzz word to describe how the company can slowly pay you less and less, and remove all your benefits, until you are "self funded" - in other words you pay for all your "benefits" yourself, while the company receives the tax benefits for these payments. This improves their profit ratio, and if this system is extrapolated, you will eventually pay the company to work there. So you'll need a second job to fund this. :-)

CTC - Cost to company is a trick of a company and HR department, to show we are paying a big salary, but unfortunately it is just bubble. They overload total expenses of human resources on salary, and show that they are paying this much salary to the staff. but actually they pay less and show more. For example....your salary is 60,000 $ p.a. Means ... you are getting 5,000/- per month. But actually person gets only 2,500/- per month...all other money is deducted for facilities.. Means we are paying for getting facilities, but company shows they are giving us good facilities in the organization. In short, we pay from our salary for getting facilities, but company says they are giving good facilities to there staff. So you are paying for even unwanted facilities which you don't need. Before deciding CTC, ask for breakup of facilities.

This is a story about a famous research scientist who had made several very important medical breakthroughs. He was being interviewed by a newspaper reporter who asked him why he thought he was able to be so much more creative than the average person. What set him so far apart from others?

Car Operating System

Bill's company made software to run a car.

Bill was taking a test ride of the car. Suddenly a truck came from opposite side.

Bill pressed ctrl+b to apply brakes.

A pop-up window appeared asking, "Are you sure you really want to stop?"

Before Bill could enter "Yes", there was a crash and the car caught fire.

In panic Bill forgot the password to open the door.
He started shouting "F1! F1!" but there was no computer professional present there to understand his screams.

Then he tried to come out through the car window-pane.

A message appeared on the screen, "An illegal function is performed.
All the window-panes of the car will be closed." Poor Bill died.

Messengers of death took away his soul and said to him, "You have never ever performed any good deeds in your life. You always stole the code from others. We are going to send you to hell."

Bill pleaded, "I am ready to go to hell but do provide me a computer, please."

With technologies improvement these days,we are getting lazy.We don't want to memorize things as we did it in the past.Just kidding.Actually,We gave the role to computer to perform so many things on behalf of us.

A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards
sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said “I don’t
think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something
to eat.”

“Is the man of the house home?”, they asked.
“No”, she replied. “He’s out.”

“Then we cannot come in”, they replied.

In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.

“Go tell them I am home and invite them in!”

The woman went out and invited the men in”

“We do not go into a House together,” they replied.
“Why is that?” she asked.
One of the old men explained: “His name is Wealth,” he said pointing to one
of his friends, and said pointing to another one, “He is Success, and I am
Love.” Then he added, “Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of
us you want in your home.”
The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was
overjoyed. “How nice!!”, he said. “Since that is the case, let us invite
Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!”

His wife disagreed. “My dear, why don’t we invite Success?”

Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She
jumped in with her own suggestion: “Would it not be better to invite Love?
Our home will then be filled with love!”

“Let us heed our daughter-in-law’s advice,” said the husband to his wife.

“Go out and invite Love to be our guest.”

The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, “Which one of you is Love?
Please come in and be our guest.”

Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up
and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: “I only
invited Love, Why are you coming in?”

The old men replied together: “If you had invited Wealth or Success, the
other two of us would’ve stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He
goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and
Success!!!!!!”
